I spend my life outside with a bit of in front of the computer. Not a bad way to do it in my opinion.

Headed out for a fun filled weekend of wilderness medicine at the Nantahala Outdoor Center! :)

And the Waltz Goes On - Anthony Hopkins

Sir Anthony Hopkins Hears The Waltz He Wrote 50 Years Ago For The First Time

Academy Award-winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins was a musician before he got into acting. 50 years ago he wrote a waltz but was too afraid to ever hear it play. Dutch violinist André Rieu performs it for the very first time. Watch Hopkins’ reaction.

That was beautiful

I cried a few tears and felt better about humanity’s endeavors.

That as absolutely spectacular and ornate. I as well was brought to tears

Screw the article links for the moment: this is too extraordinary not to reblog right now.

Hopkins’s reactions as it plays through would have been worth the entire price of admission. And whoever did the orchestration should be congratulated for not going for anything small. (But then Rieu’s shindigs always lean toward the spectacular anyway: “small” would be out of place.)

Hey, Sherlock friends. Wanna give me a hand with something? I have that itchy feeling that says it’s time to start a new painting, and a nice big, blank canvas that’s waiting for a landscape. I want to do something from Sherlock on it, but I don’t want it be of a predominately urban setting. There lot’s of nice stuff in Baskerville, but I can’t decide. I also already decided against Appledore and the scene from Scandal with the dead hiker. Can you guys think of any other scenes?

I meant to get back to this. I really like both those suggestions, so I may have to get another canvas and do both. Thanks for the help. It will be a few months before one gets finished, but I’ll post a picture when it’s done.
